Could A WWII Battleship Super Fleet Beat A 2026 US Carrier Group? | Sea Power

What happens when a modern US Navy carrier strike group goes back in time to face an all-star fleet of WWII battleships and battlecruisers? Find out in this epic Sea Power naval warfare simulation from the Grim Reapers!

In this scenario, a modern Nimitz-class aircraft carrier leads a carrier strike group armed with F/A-18 Super Hornets, F-35C Lightning IIs, and a huge arsenal of modern precision-guided missiles and bombs. Four Arleigh Burke-class Flight IIA destroyers provide the escort, equipped with SM-6, SM-2, ESSM and 5-inch naval guns.

Facing them is an all-star lineup of some of the most famous warships of World War II:

🇺🇸 USS Iowa and USS Arizona
🇬🇧 HMS Hood and HMS Warspite
🇩🇪 Bismarck
🇯🇵 Yamato
🇮🇹 Roma
🇫🇷 Richelieu

Rather than simply selecting the eight most powerful WWII battleships, this fleet represents some of the most famous and infamous warships in naval history.

We fight two battles in Sea Power. The first engagement takes place at 100 miles, giving the modern carrier group a major advantage in long-range weapons and air power. Then we close the distance to just 10 miles, putting the WWII battleships within effective naval gun range.

Modern carrier aviation and guided missiles vs. massive WWII battleship guns.

Modern US carrier group vs. the legendary battleships of WWII — which naval force would dominate?

Watch the battle unfold in Sea Power, and see how these legendary warships perform when they meet on the same battlefield!
