What If France Fought the Falklands War Instead of Britain? – Day 2 | DCS & Sea Power Hybrid

Today it’s DAY 2 of our WHAT IF FRANCE had fought the 1982 Falklands War instead of Britain mini campaign.

In this DCS World and Sea Power Falklands War hybrid simulation, we explore an alternate-history scenario in which France launches a major naval and amphibious operation to retake the Falkland Islands.

French Naval & Amphibious Forces

The French task force includes:

  • 1 × Clemenceau aircraft carrier
  • 2 × Suffren-class AAW destroyers
  • 2 × T-47 destroyers
  • 3 × Tourville-class destroyers
  • 9 × LST, LHD and auxiliary vessels
  • 4 × Agosta-class submarines

French Carrier Air Group

The Clemenceau carrier deploys:

  • 10 × F-8E(FN) Crusaders
  • 16 × Super Étendards
  • 7 × Breguet 1050 Alizé aircraft

Argentina Launches an All-Out Attack

The Argentine naval force includes:

  • ARA General Belgrano
  • Type 42 destroyers
  • Gearing-class destroyers
  • Sumner-class destroyers

Argentina commits its available combat aircraft, including A-4 Skyhawks, Daggers, Mirage III fighters and Super Étendards from the Argentine Air Force and Navy for an all-or-nothing time-on-target attack on the French aircraft carrier.

France Strikes Back

In response, the French launch a squadron of Super Étendards equipped with Exocet missiles and hunt down the Argentine naval fleet.

Will the French carrier survive?

Will the Super Étendards find and sink the Argentine fleet?

Let’s find out.
