The lineup includes the US Navy Ticonderoga-class cruiser and Spruance-class destroyer, both equipped with Mk 41 VLS, alongside the Soviet Sovremenny-class and Udaloy-class destroyers.

We also examine Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) ships including the Hatsuyuki, Takatsuki and Tachikaze classes, plus Chinese small attack craft and a Philippine landing craft.

After examining these new vessels and their capabilities, we put them to the test in a large Sea Power naval battle: late-1980s United States and Japan vs the Soviet Union and China.

The battle features some of the most dangerous anti-ship weapons of the Cold War, including the Soviet P-270 Moskit (Sunburn) supersonic anti-ship missile, facing American Tomahawk and Harpoon missiles.
