What If WWII Never Ended? How Bad Would the Arctic Convoys Have Been in 1976? | DCS

What if World War II continued until 1976?

Explore an alternate history where Operation Barbarossa ends in stalemate, Germany captures the Caucasus oil fields, and the Allies struggle to break through the Eastern Front.

With the Manhattan Project a failure and nuclear weapons never developed, the war takes a dramatically different turn.

A World War That Never Ended

In this alternate WWII timeline, Japan eventually surrenders through attrition, but a weakened United States faces a world where the conflict in Europe continues for decades.

By 1976, Britain is still supplying the Soviet Union through the dangerous Arctic convoys to Murmansk.

Sailing through the treacherous Barents Sea, the Royal Navy’s HMS Invincible aircraft carrier leads a convoy of merchant ships and warship escorts on a vital supply mission.

Luftwaffe Mirages Attack the Convoy

But the German Luftwaffe launches a devastating attack from the Norwegian coast using French-built Mirage jets.

Flying just 50 feet above the waves to evade detection, the German aircraft close on the convoy before the Royal Navy can react.

With the fleet under attack, HMS Invincible scrambles its Sea Harrier fighters in a desperate attempt to defend the ships.

Sea Harriers vs Luftwaffe Mirages

With hostile aircraft closing in and almost no chance of survival for pilots shot down over the freezing Arctic waters, can the Royal Navy repel the German assault?

Or will the entire convoy be destroyed?

This fictional DCS World scenario combines WWII alternate history, aircraft carrier warfare, Royal Navy operations, Sea Harriers vs Luftwaffe Mirage jets and the deadly Arctic convoy battles of a war that never ended.

Would the fleet survive?
