What If the British Falklands Fleet Went Through The Final Countdown Time Warp? | DCS World

What if the Falklands War task force of 1982 was sent back in time to the Battle of Midway in 1942?

In this DCS World recreation inspired by The Final Countdown, HMS Invincible, HMS Hermes and their escorts are caught in a mysterious time warp and transported back to late May 1942 — directly into the path of the Japanese carrier Hiryu and its battle group as they head toward the Battle of Midway.

The Japanese Launch a Massive Attack

Mistaking the British task force for an American carrier group, the Japanese launch a massive attack. All 63 Japanese aircraft — including A6M Zero fighters, Nakajima B5N Kate torpedo bombers and Aichi D3A Val dive bombers — are scrambled to attack the British fleet.

Sea Harriers Scramble to Intercept

The Royal Navy responds with Sea Harrier FRS.1s from 801 NAS and 800 NAS. Sharkey Ward’s eight Sea Harriers and Andy Auld’s twelve Sea Harriers scramble to intercept the Japanese strike.

Can the Sea Harriers, together with the Sea Dart and Sea Cat air-defence systems, protect HMS Invincible, HMS Hermes and the rest of the task force? Or will the overwhelming Japanese attack break through?
